This Election Day, every voter in Illinois will have a question on their ballot, asking if they support raising our state’s minimum wage starting January 1st, 2015. It’s time that low-wage workers earn a wage that they can actually live on, don’t you agree?
No one can support a family on the current minimum wage of $8.25 an hour, which equals just $17,000 per year for a full-time worker. Lifting the minimum wage will immediately help over 400,000 minimum wage workers in Illinois.
We need to send a clear message that working families in Illinois urgently need a raise.
